Area 20 October Monthly Update
We’ve been home from MOMCon for one week. Reentry has been hard. I was immediately thrust into the world of
work, schedules and my husband traveling.
I just unpacked my suitcase today.
What a stark change from our time at MOMCon! We had an amazing time with our MOPS
sisters! For anyone that was unable to
come this year, please pray about coming next year. It is an amazing time of renewal.
If you have never been before, MOMCon helps you see the big
picture of MOPS. You get to hear from
the hearts of MOPS leadership and see their love for women and their goal to
share Jesus with one million moms. We
even saw women from MOPS global who traveled from other countries to unite in
sisterhood to be trained and renewed. We
had great gatherings, meet-ups and workshops.
Also, those of us that are Coaches had an amazing
inspirational speaker who talked to us about self-care. MOPS Leaders needs to make sure they don’t
get burned out and one way to do this is by taking care of themselves. Sometimes this may look like getting a sitter
to go to lunch with a friend or taking a nap when your baby naps. Other times it may be that we need to spend
time with our Father in reflection and prayer.
In Isaiah 40:31 it says,
but
those who hope in the Lord will
renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and
not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
We can be better moms and better MOPS leaders when we are refreshed
and renewed. We love you MOPS
mamas! As you are taking care of your
kids and preparing for your MOPS meetings, take some for yourself and take some
time with our Lord. Know that we are
praying for you as you lead your groups!
Love,

MOPS Area 20 Leaders Facebook Page
Did you know we have a
MOPS Area 20 Leaders Facebook page?
This page is open to
all registered Area 20 MOPS Leaders. MOPS International encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential
as mothers, women and leaders, in relationship with Jesus, and in partnership
with the local church. Area 20 MOPS Leaders Facebook page is a place to ask
questions about MOPS International events, get ideas for meetings and encourage
one another. Your MOPS Volunteer Team Coaches check the page daily. We have been
posting a Prayer & Praise request each Tuesday. If you ever have a prayer
request, you may share it in that post. Our Coaches will pray specifically for
your requests.
We are also facilitating group discussions for
a week each month. In September, we discussed all things MOMcon & those who
attended shared their pictures & experiences. For October, we are going to
ask the questions you have been asking. Share your thoughts & your ideas
with other MOPS Leaders. You can join our page https://www.facebook.com/groups/Area20MOPS/
Each time you share an idea or comment your
name will be entered for a random drawing. What are you waiting for? Join our
page, find ideas & share ideas.
Area
20 Needs YOU!
MOPS Coaches are a vibrant tribe of women authentically
impacting the lives of MOPS moms and Leaders. Before stepping into the role of
coach, these leaders served in a local MOPS group – just like you. Would you
like to take the next step in leadership? We’re ready to take it with you.
Our Coaches build relationships and
strengthen teams. They are avid listeners, expert encouragers, community
cultivators and world influencers. They passionately pursue their role as mom
enthusiasts and Leader advocates.
MOPS Coaches make a difference
because they show up.
Your Coaches pray daily for our MOPS groups &
you, our Leaders. We also pray that those who are called to join us will answer
that call. If you are ready to take the next step in leadership, please contact
your Coach or send our Area Coach, Christy Molnar, christymolnar@yahoo.com an email today.

M | Collectives & M | Meetups
MOPS
International is launching two new meeting formats! Just like the classic MOPS
groups, both of these gatherings welcome every mom, invite them into lifelong
friendships and talk about the things that matter most. Learn more
at mops.org/start-a-group.
M | Collectives
Collectives are short, topic-based gatherings. Collectives typically meet once
a week for six to eight sessions to work through a small-but-mighty workbook
that focuses on growth and discovery within a single topic. Topics could include postpartum depression, marriage and
intimacy, raising boys and girls, healthy sleep habits and others, with new
topics added continually. Each mom will simply need her own workbook to work
through each week.
All you’ll need: Your Facilitator workbook + two or more
moms + a place to gather.

Meetups coming in 2018!
Meetups are ongoing, once-a-month gatherings centered on the shared wisdom and
conversation of the women next to you. We have
learned that with a little guidance, a casual monthly Meetup can create some of
the most life-giving moments; the kind that breathe life into your year. Each
month, both the Facilitator and each Member will receive monthly musings –
digital content to help guide the conversation and set the stage for an
extraordinary Meetup experience. The best part about Meetups is that they only require
that you show up. Each mom will simply need her membership for access to these
resources.
Members receive weekly, digital content
that invites them to be intentional in their motherhood and faith journey,
thought life and love life, and is sure to transform their year in
extraordinary ways!
MOPS and Chuck E. Cheese
MOPS and Chuck
E. Cheese’s are collaborating to create something new. Chuck E. Cheese’s
locations across the nation are opening their doors to MOPS groups in fresh and
innovative ways to connect with new moms. We’re talking no hassle play dates
with entertainment and food (check out their healthy, gluten-free meal
options), outreach events that connect you with moms who are in your
neighborhood but are outside of the church, and even the option for an ongoing
MOPS group that meets without the challenge of having to secure child care.
Chuck E. Cheese’s isn’t just for kids anymore; it’s for MOPS moms, too.
Because, together, we are not only inviting moms into our community, we are
showing up in theirs.
New Leader Handbook
The MOPS International new Leader Handbook is simple to read and simple to use. It outlines the Heart of MOPS and the MOPS Experience. It will help Leaders welcome, meet and connect with moms in their community and share the love of Jesus. Combined with the online resources, the Leader Handbook will provide everything a Leader needs to simply lead their group.

Prayers and Praises
Leaders,
if you have a prayer or praise that you would like us to share with Area 20
Leaders, please send to your Coach or post on our Facebook page.
Nicole
Gebhardt – Please pray for all affected by the hurricanes, and any
upcoming ones. Please also pray for the
service members (my hubby is Air Force and about to leave again for PR) that
leave their family to protect and save others…and their spouses that stay back to
hold down the homefront.
Katie
Reagin – My cousin is so nearby KC, and she is due with her 4th
baby in October, who unfortunately will likely not live. Pray for grace, for peace, for comfort and
for anything else that they will so desperately need. Her name is Stephanie, Dad is Adam and baby
is Marion Ohana.
Evelyn
Rivas – Please pray that leaders will receive the wisdom that
they need for their groups during this MOMCon and that the leaders in their
groups will rise and be on one accord to reach these 1 million moms.
Kelly
Mullins-Anxiety over leaving my children with their grandfather
for one week…my little guy has been vomiting for 5 days now.
Holly
Davis – Prayers for those in FL, GA and TX without power and/or
damage to their homes.
Nikki
Young – Prayers for our group.
I’m the coordinator and my husband just got promoted and that will move
us from MS to PA. They’re wonderful
women who can handle it but I’m sad to leave them in the middle of the year to
scramble and cover.
Leighann
Almas – We are having our first MOPS gathering tomorrow. I would like prayers for being able to reach
out and help support these women when I myself am struggling.
Lauren
Barthle – My twin sister just had her second miscarriage in under
6 months. My heart is grieving for
her. She has a DNC scheduled for
tomorrow and I wish I could be there with her.
We have our first meeting tomorrow so I’m trying to get collected. This hurricane situation isn’t helping
either.
Katie
Reagin – My grandmother has been hospitalized since early
August. Gratefully, she become well
enough to be transferred out of the ICU and into another care facility to care
for her, but she lives out of state from me and I feel so helpless for the rest
of my family. Another friend has also been struggling with her health and has
been in the hospital since last Friday. And I’m over here, uber-focused on our
group, our growth, and my own family’s needs simultaneously. You know,
run-of-mill for us leaders.
Bree
Lawrence – My 12-year-old son’s best friend started having seizures
over the summer, they stopped for awhile, and now they have started again.
Connor his having to miss a lot of school for doctor visits, tests, and because
of the seizures. Pray for healing and for his doctors to find a way that
Connor’s seizures can be managed.
Angela
Marshall – Pray for the Marshall family as they mourn the passing
of her husband, Mike’s, father.
Prayers for Leadership Teams starting their MOPS year and working
to help MOPS International reach 1 million moms.
Pray for our Area 20 MOPS Volunteer Team (MVT) as we strive
to encourage and equip the leaders in our communities and hope that more MOPS
Leaders will answer God’s call to be a part of our team.
